a word about word

i have been thinking about getting a new powerbook and with it some new software. one of the software packages i was thinking about was office. up until last night i didn’t particularly like it, but it was so widely used that sometimes i just have to have it.
last night, things changed. i am now going to live my life without microsoft word. it was awful, i was tyring to put the figures in my paper at the top of the page and AutoFormat kept ruining everything. i was finally able to get them in, but i am not too happy with them. oh well, the paper is done and i am done with word.

you can turn off auto formating…
    open the Tools menu
    select Auto Correct
select the Auto Format as You Type tab

that is the one thing i forgot to mention: i asked ‘clippy’ how to do it and he told me. so i did those things and then it would still move the paragrphs around in a way that made my figures look weird. i will look into it again, though, now that i don’t have the pressure of getting the paper done. thanks matt.

Yeah, probably if you used word a lot, it would become easier. I have a hard time remembering what to do to turn the formating off. I am still an Office fan.
