Juke
Juke: “A roadside or rural establishment offering liquor, dancing, and often gambling and prostitution.”
I went to Winsteads last night with Rachel and got to thinking about the jukebox. Obviously it would be a “box” that deals with a “juke”, but I didn’t know what juke meant. Now I do.
Winsteads is no juke joint, it is so fun. Its like a diner straight out of Grease, which happens to be my only knowledge of the 50’s. You can order exactly what you want at Winsteads, you don’t have to mess with any combos. You order everything that you want – even the lettuce and tomatoe cost extra – perfect.
I happen to greatly enjoy the Double Winstead. I get it with cheese ($0.25 extra) and bacon ($0.75 extra) and it is amazing. According to a local Hardees commercial, Winsteads has the second best burger in town. The commercial says that the Westport Flea Market has the best burger. I am going to have to check it out. If it really is better than the Double Winstead, I might find myself stopping in the WFM a little too much.
That is odd, I have never eaten at Winsteads. Adam goes there a lot with Gretchen. I have had a burger at WFM and didn’t think it was anything special. Now the WFM is pretty special though.
I drive by WFM all the time and can imagine it to be a pretty special place.
A number of responses:
First, I don’t think you will shop much at the Westport Flea Market. I don’t think they will have anything you’ll be interested in (except maybe a Traveling Wilburys LP). However, Spivey’s Used Bookstore is right next door, and I can shop there a lot!
Second, I didn’t find the burgers there very good at all. You have to put your own condiments on them, and that table is always filthy and fly covered.
Third, what are your cholesterol numbers like? You can’t eat this kind of food regularly.
Yeah, like we are experts on eating the right foods!
Westport FM has decent burgers, as does that shack downtown, but ever since charcoal grill closed down years ago the real burgers are to be had at grandstand burgers off i-35
