Tonight I ventured into the city (San Francisco) alone to find the Apple Store for my computer needs and Chipotle for my withdrawals. The trip satisfied both. It had been at least six weeks since I was fortunate enough to go to either place (and I missed them both).
The cheapest way to get to the city from our hotel is by taking the hotel shuttle to the airport and then hopping on the Bart for a 20 minute ride. If you are unlucky on timing, it could take about 90 minutes to make all the connections, if you are lucky, about 30. Getting into the city tonight took about an hour. I am on the Bart now (sans wifi) and looking at about a 40 minute commute back to the hotel. So far I have made the first connection perfectly.
The conference is going really well. I am learning a few cool things and having a lot of fun. Today I heard Marc Andreesen speak and he was great. He gave an insightful overview of the history of computing (even for someone like me who has spent the last six years studying that history) and gave some of his views on the future. He doesn’t like Microsoft, Flash, and uses a Razr.
If there is one thing that everyone is talking about at this conference it is AJAX. AJAX really is cool and it has to be direction in which the web is going. So my advice to anyone reading that is interested in being a web developer: learn AJAX.
That’s all for now.
Never mind.
Why have I lost my RSS feed to you? I thought you were on a posting hiatus and decided just to make sure you were still around. You are. But bloglines isn’t picking you up anymore.
I got it figured out.
i can’t believe you went without me!
Hey, I had Chipotle last night, too. I had a Carnitas borrito. I hadn’t had one in a long time either. It was fun to hear you had found oen in San Francisco.
