I went to Best Buy this afternoon to get a Tivo and confirmed what I feared. You can’t set the Tivo Service up without a home phone line. After the initial setup you can use your broadband connection, but you must have a phone line to get it set up. Rachel and I do not have a home phone line, and therefore we do not have a Tivo. Oh well.
