New House

Rachel and I are finally home owners. She has been writing about the new house on her blog (here, here and here). We got all the papers signed yesterday and just had to wait for the money and papers to get wired around the world today. The only thing that hasn’t gone too well so far is that we aren’t actually in the house yet. The sellers had a little trouble moving out in time, so they are currently moving out of our house. Oh well, we aren’t going to actually move in for a few weeks still. We want to get the hardwood floors refinished and we are going back to Kansas City for my sister’s wedding. I’ll keep you posted!

Update: We went back at 9:00 pm and the sellers were gone. We moved a few things in, looked around, met a neighbor and came back to our apartment.

You should charge rent, since you have to pay your first payment based on the day you start being the owner. If she stays in without paying you rent, you are giving her free occupancy. $500 a day sounds fair!

This is good news, and it’s a good time in your lives. Be sure to record all of your thoughts in your journals.
