Day 1 at the house

Rachel and I spent the day over at our new house. We did quite a few chores, but the most fun was pulling up the carpet in the front bedroom and finding hardwood (“finding” isn’t quite true, we had a pretty good idea there was hardwood under there). We need to pull the carpet up in the back bedroom (the master bedroom, if you will) tomorrow before the guy comes over to look into refinishing the floors for us.
I am exhausted after a full day of working around the house. I think what really did me in was the time in the sun. We spent a lot of time today planning what we wanted to do and when. For some fun, we took a trip over to Home Depot and I picked up a book on do-it-yourself electrical work. We’ve got a switch that needs replacing and I really want to do it. I had to remind Rachel that I pretty much got my degree in electrical engineering before she would let me get the needed equipment. I ended up pulling the carpet before getting to the switch. Maybe tomorrow!
I am sure Rachel will write all about it, so just check her site. Also, check out her photos of the new place.
Your are going to be the best homeowner ever! Looks like you got a gem.
when we moved into our first house on beach and ellis in 1979 we had to pull up the carpet because the previous owner had a dog that had no control. much to our surprise we found tung and grooved hard wood floors. we felt like we had found a treasure – enjoy yours!
Your place looks like it is going to be nice! How did replacing the switch go?!
I think AJ could take a lesson from you. I do all of that kind of work around here.
But, I’ll give him the fact that he’s done ceiling fans. Those aren’t easy.
We’re so excited for you guys. Can’t wait to see what you do to the place!
