Keller in Eugene

Keller at McDonald

At the suggestion of Cam, I joined him at the Keller Williams show last night at the McDonald Theatre. Until last night, I was not familiar with Keller’s music at all. It was a very interesting show. There were some songs that I really enjoyed, they were relatively normal bluegrassy songs with understandable lyrics, then there were others were he made monkey sounds for the entire song. Keller’s big thing is that he’ll play some chords or make some sounds and then have some machine continuously play those sounds back while he’s on to making other sounds. It was fascinating to watch his control of all those sounds.

A year ago, I don’t think I could have made it through five minutes of this show. It would have freaked me out. But in the last year I have come to appreciate the way the people in Eugene dance, what they wear, how they smell and what they listen to. I probably won’t be at another Keller Williams show in a long, long time, but I am very happy to have attended last night. I’m sure Cam will have a better wrap-up of the show and hopefully mention how cool it was Keller mixed in Scooby Doo to the popular, Bob is my Hero.

  1. A very accurate review. After hearing what Mark had to say, I kind of had to agree. My Keller run has probably come to a close as well, but I will always appreciate his unique style and vibe.

Send me a mullet photo if you are able :)

Monkey sounds? Are you sure you weren’t listening to the State of the Union Address?

That would have been cool if he’d made pig sounds!

I need the lyrics from the Scooby song. I’m a guitar player, sort of goofy folk style, and I love the Scooby song and need to learn it. Does anyone have them? Thanks
