Changes

A lot has happened for Rachel and me over the last few months. The biggest change is that I no longer work at yahoo and now work for another web startup in New York City. Rather than work from Eugene this time, we are moving across the country very soon. Our house will finally go up for sale next week and then we start packing.

I have loved our three years in Eugene more than I ever expected. When we moved here for Rachel to go to school I thought we’d be gone the day after she graduated. Since moving to Eugene, though, we made some great friends and lived in a very comfortable house and neighborhood. Eugene has been a fantastic place to live and we will miss it.

But, life’s next big adventure for us is out east. We’ve been the NYC twice in the last month or so and found a great apartment in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn. We’ll be near many great restaurants, a few minutes from a nice park for Crusher and I’ll have about a 25 minute commute into Manhattan for work.

While I won’t even try to guess how long we’ll be in New York I will say that I think it’s going to be a good place for us. It will be different from any place we’ve lived before and can’t wait to get out there and experience it all.

I hope we can come and visit? It is very exciting. Hey, Manhattan looks closer than 25 min. Is it because of all the stops it has to make.

    ch-ch-changes

  1. @libby – yep, manhattan is pretty close. the 25 minutes includes the walk on both ends and i added a few minutes in case i need to wait for the train when i switch.

@p1 – thanks for including the bowie reference. i almost used that for my title, but refrained. glad to see it still made the post.

  2. Hi Travis,

I’m glad to hear you were able to find a new job and I am amazed/surprised to learn that you moved from Eugene to the east coast. What a change! I wish you all the best for your new endeavour! Let’s try to keep in touch from each coast :D
